The MF-3 Microforge is a versatile instrument designed for precise micropipette fabrication, allowing continuous observation of the pipette tip through a built-in, high-resolution microscope. The MF-3 delivers brighter, clearer imaging for improved accuracy, while its compact, robust design makes positioning easy and helps reduce the risk of pipette breakage.
It supports a range of customization techniques—including cutting, fire-polishing, bending, and spike formation—so pipettes can be tailored to specific experimental needs. Fine adjustments are made using reliable control knobs located near the microscope, with the option to switch the focusing knob to the left side for user preference.
Critical heater settings are clearly displayed for easy monitoring, and heater operation is controlled via a convenient foot switch. An adjustable LED light source provides illumination from low to high intensity, ensuring optimal visibility throughout the fabrication process.
Improved Microscope Design and Usability
The MF3 features an upgraded microscope system that delivers a brighter, clearer field of view, making pipette observation and processing easier and more precise. The enhanced optics improve visibility during cutting, bending, polishing, and spike formation.
Key improvements include:
- Approximately 78% larger field of view, expanded from 15 mm to 20 mm in diameter.
- Improved microscope optics for brighter, clearer observation.
- Redesigned micrometer for easier and more accurate pipette diameter measurements.
- Built-in angle gauge lines marked in 5° increments for consistent pipette bending.
- Eyepiece guides that simplify micrometer reading at different magnifications.
- Reduced image misalignment when changing objective lenses, making pipettes easier to locate, even at high magnification.
The MF3 includes 10× eyepieces and 5×/10× objective lenses as standard accessories, with an optional 50× objective lens (MF3-LO50) available for higher magnification applications.
By adding the Objective lens 50x (MF3-LO50, sold separately), pipette observation and processing tasks can be performed with the MF3 at a total magnification of 500x.
* MF3 lenses are exclusively compatible with the MF3. Please note that eyepieces and objective lenses from older Microforge models (such as the MF-830, MF-900, and MF2) are not compatible with the MF3 and cannot be used.
