Description
Rapid focal perfusion is critical for establishing experimental conditions, such as dose response curves. Electronic control of solution exchange is the only way to ensure rapid fluid delivery and reproducibility. By using a VCPlus-4 pressure system with focal outlet, you can configure the system for very basic perfusion requirements or you can optimize the system for the most demanding applications of patch-clamp recording and/or imaging.
VCPlus-4 pressure systems drive fluid by using pressure.
Pressure driven systems can perfuse solution through tubing with very small ID’s. They are ideal for use in focal applications where only a small amount of solution is needed around the preparation. Pressurization also means faster switch rates at the cell membrane. This focal application is especially useful for researchers looking for dose response curves. Pressurized systems include valve manifold with isolation or pinch valves, 5ml pressurized reservoirs, VCPlus controller, power supply, magnetic stand, spill sensor, USB-C cable, and software. Quartz MicroManifold® (QMM) perfusion outlet, BOB-8 TTL breakout box, compression fittings (CF), PR-10 Pressure Regulator, and spill sensor are sold separately.

Each VCPlus-4xP Series system includes the following:
- Magnetic stand with 1 x pole
- Valve manifold with isolation or pinch valves and 5mL pressurized
syringe reservoirs
- VCPlus electronic valve controller with a USB-C cable and software
- DB9-CABLE controller to valve manifold cable
Each VCPlus-4xP Series system features a choice of valves:
- Pinch valves: The 3-way normally open and normally closed pinch

valves require minimal maintenance in long-term perfusion
experiments and have response times of 15-20ms.
- Isolation valves: These 2-way normally closed
isolation valves
are optimized for high-speed solution exchange. These valves are
completely isolated when closed and have response times of 2 to 3ms.
Additional options include:
- Glass reservoirs for volatile solutions
- Spill sensor: used to detect spills around the microscope to prevent damage to expensive optics
- Breakout Box: BOB-8 for TTL trigger inputs
Need to be ordered separately:
- Compression Fittings, CF-1’s, and Quartz MicroManifold ® QMM for fast focal applications
- PR-10 Pressure regulator controller
